I have no idea what I am doing… I just know I have to do it.

Have you ever felt compelled to do something and yet you have absolutely no idea why?

That’s where I am right now.

It’s officially Friday morning (ha! Just barely past midnight!) but this post is the first entry on the I SEE HOW IT IS site where I hope to share my thoughts as a middle aged man who realizes that for all I know, there is so much I do not know.

Perhaps the most fascinating thing to me as a light-skinned Black male living in America is that I stand at a unique intersection of race and status. On a daily basis, I observe the biases that have become ingrained in most of us because our culture dictates that we buy into a simplistic and fictitious model for measuring the worth of human beings.

It is this error that I hope to expose through this site, but I operate under no illusion that it will effect change in the larger world. But hey, I’ll also hope to share the things that make me laugh and bring a bit of joy to the folks who visit this site.

Ultimately this is a public exercise to challenge and evolve my own thinking, with perhaps a chance to make myself a better human being and perhaps touch a few souls who cross paths with me on here.

To paraphrase Amber Ruffin: Let’s find out what happens…
